About Me – Jasmohan Singh Bains
I am a native of Vancouver in the Canada. I am a crazy dreamer and I have an insatiable desire to go with self-sacrifice that I cannot live a normal life or conform to.
After graduating from uni ‘selling my soul’ as a business slave I started to feel like I was spending the best years of my life behind the desk working for someone else’s passions and dreams. There was to be more to life than that!
However, most of the time it is easier to continue with the daily digestion process, always dreaming that ‘someday’ you will take that trip, rather than taking that leap and leaving your comfort zone.
Why I Travel
I believe that touring is more than just seeing places – the tours, and the things you learn, can really change your life.
I go to grow as a person, meet others who inspire and teach me and (hopefully!) Do the same in return, so that my life can be enhanced by the beauty and diversity of this wonderful world and have my eyes, mind and heart more open.
I go to make the most of my time in the world, make every day work, instead of counting the days until the weekend or going on a two-week vacation – because life is just too short for me to live otherwise!
But most of all I go for freedom – living according to my own circumstances, to control my destiny, to give myself the greatest comfort – Time. Time to pursue my desires, dreams and aspirations instead of spending the best years of my life I dream of stepping out of a rainy window working all day with someone else’s dreams.
My Travel Style
Although I tell myself that a tourist addict isn’t just going to rush through the popular tourist attractions out of the bucket list – I don’t find this type of trip being fulfilled. I love to slow down, hear, understand and immerse myself in different cultures and learn from them.
Instead of the days I usually spend a week or more (sometimes even months) I put everything where I go, meet local people, relax and look beyond the traps of visitors to feel the real place – maybe wandering around and exploring again. find small surprises on a paved road or explore a rural area on a motorcycle without a real plan or a place in mind – to explore and see what I find!
I like to go one-way tickets whenever possible, preferring not to plan too much but to do it spontaneously and openly to allow for those time meetings and random events that only happen if you take it lightly and often end up on the trip.
How do I afford to travel
Many people think that travel is too expensive to be an active lifestyle. Yes, to travel long distances you will need a small amount of money to stay in luxury hotels every night but the truth is that a nomadic lifestyle is more affordable, and more affordable, than you think.
Yes, I had to sacrifice to save the money I needed to be free, I have to be careful about money and work hard while traveling but there are many ways you can go for free, or make money while traveling again. There are many places where you can live / travel comfortably for only US $ 20 / £ 16 a day. Do not let the anxieties of this system of things get in the way.
