Vancouver is a North American city surrounded by mountains and natural wonders, but it still has the city life that people want. Reasons why you should visit this beautiful city soon.
Local people will make you feel at home
Vancouver has a diverse population. About 40 percent of the city’s callers are immigrants from countries such as China, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom. Vancouverites are generally welcoming, friendly and helpful, as well as open-minded, evident when traveling to Davie Village, the local gay area.
It is easy to move from the city to the environment
If you want to get from the city to the mountains within an hour, there is no better place than Vancouver. There are three major mountains nearby: Cypress Mountain, Mount Seymour and Grouse Mountain. Cypress is a favourite of local skiers and skiers as it has some of the best facilities, and was part of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Grouse, on the other hand, is a popular summer getaway where visitors can face the Grouse Grind and enjoy the daily wooden display at the top of the mountain.
Enjoy community beaches and lakes
Yes, you get the best of both countries in Vancouver. The most popular summer beaches in the area include Kitsilano Beach, Banks of Spain, Jericho Beach, Sunset Beach and Second Beach (there are also First and Third nearby). Richmond Night Market is the largest in North America, with over 100 food vendors, 200 stalls, festival games and a dinosaur park. North Vancouver also hosts a Night Ship every Friday evening, while the East side Flea Market takes place every weekend and features vintage clothing, antiques, collections and local handmade products available. Finally, the Granville Island Public Market is open every day and has plenty of food and local goods to buy.
Vancouver is full of museums and attractions
Vancouver is full of fun things to do. Popular attractions include Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, Museum of Anthropology, FlyOver Canada, Vancouver Lookout, Dr Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, Science World and Vancouver Art Gallery.
It’s a nice weather
Vancouver’s climate is incomplete, due to its location in the Pacific Northwest rain forest region. However, it is much better than other Canadian countries. It is rare for Vancouver to get a lot of snow in the winter (sometimes it can go all year without snow). In summer it is also very small, with temperatures between 77F (25C) and long sunny days. Vancouver also experiences all four seasons, so visit in the spring or fall to see flowering trees or fallen leaves.
The city has two parks to visit
Although there are parks scattered throughout the city, there are two to see if you are in Vancouver. First, there is Stanley Park, one of the largest city parks in North America. Get lost in the park, go around the beach and take pictures in all the arms that fit the picture. Second, there is Queen Elizabeth Park; while located just south of Downtown, its elevated position means it has a magnificent view of the city and the surrounding mountains. It is also home to the Bloodel Conservatory, a secret tropical paradise.
It has free summer festivals that will blow your mind
In the summer, Vancouver hosts some beautiful (and free) festivals. The biggest is the three-day Celebration of Light, which is a major international sea competition between the three countries (changing every year). Next up, there’s Bard at Sea, which is about celebrating Shakespeare in the beautiful British Columbia area outside. There is also Italian Day at The Drive, International Jazz Festival, Khathahlano Street Party and much more.
Cities and their surrounding cities
One of the best reasons to visit Vancouver is every day trip you can take. Driving the Sea-to-Sky Highway to Squamish and Whistler is a must, any time of the year. There is also the opportunity to board a boat and visit Bowen Island or the Sunshine Coast. The capital of British Columbia, Victoria on Vancouver Island, is best prepared for an weekend getaway, but there are plenty of places to explore near Vancouver.
A varied and healthy restaurant
Thanks to the diverse population of Vancouver, the city is home to many cafes, restaurants and cafes. Try Vietnamese food in Little Saigon, Italian food in Commercial Drive and Indian rides at Punjabi Market. Vancouver is also known for its various food trucks, located throughout Downtown and the city’s major markets.
Cool places
Vancouver is home to some of the coolest places in Canada. Main Street and Commercial Drive are known for their boutiques and private restaurants, while Yaletown has some of the best summer restaurants due to its early life as a warehouse district. Meanwhile, Gastown is a city historic site.
Shopping – from designer threads to hipster stores
People with an aspiring designer will enjoy walking down Robson Street and exploring Downtown Vancouver. In Burnaby, there is Metropolis in Metrotown, the largest shopping mall in Western Canada, with more than 400 stores. Finally, to find local vibrations, visit the previously mentioned hipster areas. Main Street, Commercial Drive and Gastown are lined with buildings owned and operated in the area.
